LIP AUGMENTATION: SKIN ADVANCEMENT TECHNIQUE HOW IS IS DONE? This procedure is done on an out-patient basis in our office Operating room. Light sedation is administered to make the patient comfortable and not feel any pain. In the upper lip, an incision is made at the vermilion border of the lip. The vermilion border is the edge of the lip where the red color begins. A matching incision is then made some millimeters above that in the skin, the distance depending on how much correction is desired and needed. This piece of skin is then removed. The vermilion border is then moved upward to meet the skin and reattached to it with sutures. The same is done, in reverse, to the lower lip if correction is desired there as well. SOFTFORM IMPLANTATION TECHNIQUE WHAT IS SOFTFORM? SoftForm is a soft, permanent filler material used to smooth out facial wrinkles and creases. It is tunneled into these areas below the surface of the skin through two small incisions. It is also used to enhance the appearance and shape of the lips by providing a more defined lip border. HOW IS IT DONE? This procedure is done on an out-patient basis in our office Operating Room. Light sedation is administered to make the patient comfortable and not feel any pain. A small incision is made in each corner of the lip. The SoftForm material is threaded through the lip. It is adjusted and each incision is closed with an absorbable suture. POSSIBLE RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS: These are rare and minimal and will be discussed at the time of your consultation. |
